Details of the Terrorist Attack in Belgrade

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said that terrorism cannot defeat the state and stated that the operation continues throughout Serbia, as well as that so far Igor Despotović, then Kemal Begović, and Haris Šundo, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, have been arrested in the operation. who does not reside in Serbia and will be ordered to be removed from Serbia, Serbian media reports.

It was also discovered that the day before the attack on the gendarmes, the terrorist’s wife went to Montenegro and that information was requested from the Montenegrin police.

“A wide action of questioning and detention was carried out, and detention was ordered in two cases. It is about Igor Despotović, who was arrested in Belgrade, and Kemal Begović was detained during the search in Novi Pazar. A vest with the flag of the so-called Islamic State on the back was taken from him. However, you also have other things, a video was found with one person where he swears allegiance with a knife in his hand to the so-called Islamic State. When you look at what is in the apartments of those people, you see that they are members of extremists,” Dacic added.

Dacic notes that the prosecution will deal with whether the persons are connected to a specific terrorist act. He showed a video of an extremist’s apartment in Novi Pazar, where there are knives and a flag of the so-called Islamic State.

“It will be determined whether they are directly connected to this terrorist act,” said Dacic.

The injured member of the Gendarmerie, Miloš Jevremović, who was shot in the neck with a crossbow yesterday in front of the Embassy of Israel in Belgrade, is in a stable condition after the operation. Jevremović shot the attacker in self-defense, who died from his injuries.

The prosecution characterized the attack as a terrorist act committed by Miloš Žujović, religious name Salahudin, a convert from Mladenovac. The red level of security threats from terrorism has been declared.
