Hurtić presented Pope Leo XIV with special gifts that symbolize Bosnia and Herzegovina and its values, the jersey of the football team of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the name of the Holy Father, the flower of Srebrenica as a permanent symbol of memory and warning, and three books that bear witness to the history, culture, tradition and suffering that Bosnia and Herzegovina went through.

Hurtić invited Pope Leo XIV to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, to celebrate Holy Mass in our country and with his arrival send a strong message of peace, hope and encouragement to all citizens.

He specifically invited the Holy Father to visit Srebrenica on July 11, the anniversary of the genocide against the Bosniaks of Srebrenica, and to honor the victims with his presence and remind him of the importance of preserving the truth, memory and building a society in which peace and dignity of every person will be fundamental values.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country of encounters, diversity and common life. Your visit to our country would be a strong message of hope, reconciliation and support to all people who want to build a future based on peace and mutual respect,” said Minister Hurtić.

Together with Hurtić, the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Vatican, Igor Žontar, attended today’s audience, it was announced from the Cabinet of Minister Hurtić.
