The Cantonal Court in Tuzla has been proposed to order detention for eight people suspected of exploiting two girls for the purpose of prostitution, including four officers of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton, the Tuzla Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office announced today.

The detention measure has been proposed for police officers Besim Kopić /51/, Miralem Halilović /46/, Jasmin Modrić /30/ and Dževad Požegić /55/, as well as for Šemsudin Kadrić /39/, Zijad Jagodić /61/, Sulejman Šehić /67/ and Nedim Avdić /41/.

Kopić, Kadrić, Halilović, Modrić and Šehić are suspected of having recruited, lured, transported to various locations in the Kalesija, Živinice and Srebrenik areas from April 2024 to the end of July 2025, handed over to other persons and hid two fifteen-year-old girls for the purpose of prostitution and other forms of sexual exploitation, and of having used their sexual services for which they were paid.

Part of the money from the sexual services that the girls were forced to have with other people was taken by the first suspect, Besim Kopić.

Jagodić, Požegić and Avdić are suspected of having used their sexual services and paid them for them during the aforementioned period, although they were aware that the girls were minors and victims of human trafficking.

These are two girls whose development was hampered by difficult family circumstances and who were placed in social institutions in the Tuzla area, as well as in the Tuzla Home for Children Without Parental Care shelter, from where they escaped several times, and were returned by police officers and the Social Work Center.

The suspects took advantage of their escape from institutions and their state of helplessness to recruit and induce them into prostitution and use their sexual services.

The Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office, in cooperation with members of the Criminal Police Sector, the Department for Combating Organized and Computer Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tuzla Canton, conducted several months of investigative activities and worked to document these criminal acts.

Investigative activities in this case continue.

A hearing is currently underway at the Tuzla Cantonal Court based on the Prosecutor’s Office’s proposal to order the suspects to be detained.
