A meeting on the occasion of the beginning of the project development and cooperation in the region Birač and signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United Nations and the municipalities of Bratunac, Milici, Srebrenica, Zvornik and Vlasenica will take place today at the Cultural Center in Srebrenica.
The project worth 2.1 million U.S. dollars is funded by the Government of the Kingdom of Netherlands and it will allow the creation of local partnerships for sustainable and socially inclusive development in the region Birač.
The memorandum provides the continuation of the successful cooperation between the UN agencies and municipalities of the area Birač, and defines the establishment of local action groups (LAG) aiming to improve cooperation between municipalities and better cooperation with all the local actors (local communities, civil society, private sector, etc.), the development of regional development strategies and improvement of social services to reduce poverty and social exclusion.
The project will last from September 2013 until April 2016.
