Did Matt Damon give up on Sarajevo because of a Hollywood Strike?

Although the arrival of Matt Damon at today’s opening of the Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) was well prepared, everything is now under a big question mark.

The situation took a turn for the worse

Namely, at a meeting of people who are directly involved in the organization of the SFF, they talked about the arrival of Damon in Sarajevo, but then the situation took a turn for the worse.

As things stand now, Damon could stay at home due to the big strike of Hollywood actors, directors, and screenwriters, which is taking on much larger proportions than expected. Many Hollywood actors do not want to participate in festivals and other film screenings in the world out of solidarity.

The movie “Kiss the Future” will open the 29th SFF today, and the producers are Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

Agreements in Berlin

The director is Nenad Cicin-Sain, who co-wrote the script with Bill Carter.

The movie premiered at the Berlinale in February when it was revealed that SFF director Jovan Marjanovic had met with Damon in Berlin, on which occasion the star’s arrival in Sarajevo was arranged.

Public relations officer Andrijana Copf responded to the inquiry about Matt Damon’s arrival in Sarajevo two days ago:

“I have no information.”

“Kiss the future”

Speculations about the possible arrival of U2 frontman Bono Vox today at SFF are circulating in Sarajevo these days.

The movie “Kiss the Future” follows the story of how Bono Vox, in the midst of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), promised to come to Sarajevo and hold a concert in the capital of BiH. He fulfilled that promise in 1997 when U2 performed at the stadium in front of more than 45.000 fans in the liberated city.

That concert, which was held on September 23rd, 1977, is still a collective memory for the people of Sarajevo, as proof that they not only survived the siege but also that in the midst of horrors arising from the darkest impulses, music, and art can be an act of rebellion and resistance.

When asked if the sincere and great friend of Sarajevo and BiH would come, the SFF said two days ago that they had no information, Avaz reports.
