Director of BiH Utility Company reveals whether there will be enough Electricity

On September 7th, public company Elektroprivreda Bosnia and Herzegovina (EPBiH) celebrated 77 years of existence, stable path, growth and development. Elektroprivreda BiH went through organizational transformations and development phases, but it always played the role of the bearer of the economic development of BiH.

EPBiH General Director Admir Andelija noted that the last year has been one of the most difficult.

Since September 2021, we have had some hints that there will be important and significant disruptions in the electricity market. The most important thing that we succeeded in this year was to carry out a complete reorganization of the entire concern, to enter the 23rd year completely reorganized. We managed to significantly improve the salaries of employees and to pay all taxes and contributions for over 700 employees of the mine with EPBiH funds. Quite a difficult year,” he told.

He emphasizes that customers of EPBiH should not worry about whether there will be sufficient amounts of electricity in the coming period.

”Everything we did in the previous period, especially the extension of the work of Block 4 and Block 5, were prerequisites to maintain a stable price policy when it comes to our customers. In the coming period, we do not expect that there will be an increase in the price of electricity for all customers in the public service category. When it comes to customers on the market supply, we will respect the legal solutions and decisions of the Federation of BiH (FBiH) Government,” he stated.

”We believe that under some normal conditions of consumption, we will not have a problem with either supply or price. However, if there is a radical increase in electricity consumption, that is, if we have to purchase that electricity on the market, then we will have to change the prices. I urge the population to use electricity rationally. Electricity cannot be the main source of energy for heating,” warned Andelija.

He emphasized that EPBiH’s commitment to the green transition is clear.

”We currently have over 15 buildings from renewable sources. This year we had the first public tender for the construction of the first solar power plant. EPBiH has such a destiny that its transition fuel is coal. We still have to rely on coal in the long term. Until we reach a situation where we become a company that produces exclusively from renewable sources,” concluded Andelija, Biznis Info writes.
