Himzo-SelimovicThe Director of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies Himzo Selimović has resigned today.

At a press conference in Sarajevo, he said that the Directorate did everything that it could do in cooperation with the Canton Sarajevo Ministry of Interior to prevent riots in Sarajevo. He said that he resigned because if members of the B&H Presidency were to ask him to ensure safety, he would not be able to do so.

The Independent Committee of the B&H Parliamentary Assembly decides on the resignation of Director Selimović.

I have known Mr. SELIMOVIC since the year 2000, I can say without reservation that he is an honest, decent well meaning Man doing an extremely difficult job to the best of his ability.
I hold Mr. SELIMOVIC in the highest regard and feel that he has been the subject of a campaign by members of another Police Organization, with shall we say, lower standards of integrity,to destabilize his position for their own darker ends.
As a former Police Officer myself (in the U.K. and IPTF) I can fully understand the shear frustration Mr. SELIMOVIC must have felt when during the recent troubles he asked for assistance from another Police Organization to protect Government Buildings and for whatever reason (Politics as part of a conspiracy or Cowardice ?)they failed to do their duty as Public Servants and step up to the plate and assist.
I must also say that the Federal Police deserve the Highest Congratulations for their extremely professional, restrained but firm but fair actions both during the unrest and afterwards.
Mr. SELIMOVIC deserves all of our support.
