The Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Darko Ćulum, has decided to step down from his position, the Independent Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina (PSBiH) confirmed.

Ćulum made this decision, as he stated, in accordance with the laws and conclusions adopted by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NSRS), RTRS reports.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the proposal of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, issued an order for the detention of the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik, the President of the National Assembly of the RS Nenad Stevandić and the Prime Minister of the RS Radovan Višković, on suspicion of attacking the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The decision was made after the suspects twice failed to respond to the summons for questioning at the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On March 5, Milorad Dodik signed decrees promulgating the laws that were adopted at a special session of the NSRS and entered into force on March 6. One of the laws prohibits the operation of the Court and Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and SIPA in the territory of Republika Srpska.

The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina subsequently temporarily suspended these laws.
