Director of the Security and Information Agency of Serbia has resigned

The director of the Security and Information Agency (BIA), Aleksandar Vulin, resigned from that position today and stated that he is doing so because he does not want to be “an occasion for blackmail and pressure on Serbia and the Serbian world”.

“The USA and the EU are looking for my head as a precondition for not imposing sanctions on Serbia. I am not the cause of blackmail and pressure on Serbia and the Serbian world, but I will not allow myself to be the occasion for blackmail and pressure on Serbia and the Serbian world. That is why I submit my irrevocable resignation from the position of BIA director “, Vulin stated in the statement.

He added that the sanctions imposed on him are proof of his persistent struggle for the unity of Serbia, but that the eventual imposition of sanctions on Serbia if he remains at the head of the BIA would be proof of his selfishness.

“My resignation will not change the US and EU policy towards Serbia, but it will slow down new demands and blackmail,” added Vulin.
