The current situation in the FUP was the main topic of the Independent Committee of the Federation. Two important decisions – the initiative to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the former acting director of the FUP Vahidin Munjić, but also the announcement of a competition for the director and deputy director of this institution.
The Independent Committee has done its part of the job. Disciplinary proceedings were requested against Vahidin Munjić, due to controversial correspondence. They say – the evidence has been collected, and now it is the turn of the relevant minister.
“It is up to the relevant minister to assess the evidence base and information at our disposal and to make an adequate decision,” said Amar Hadžiomerović, president of the Independent Committee of the FBiH Parliament.
“Regardless of some doubts that have been raised about the work of the Supervisory Board, we reacted promptly in accordance with the law and there was no reason to doubt our work,” said Arben Murtezić, member of the Independent Committee of the FBiH Parliament.
Specific information on the situation in the FUP was also requested. Who manages this institution and how? The procedure for electing a new leadership is underway, as requested by the Independent Committee and the Security Commission of the Federal Parliament. They say they have no dilemmas regarding the previous competition opened three years ago. The procedure, they claim, has been completed.
“We received the minutes from the Federation Government, where on August 22 the Government reached a conclusion that none of the proposed candidates received the required majority. So, in the coming days, the text of the competition is expected to be drafted and we will begin the procedure for electing a new FUP management,” explained Hadžiomerović.
The position of director has been sought by the HDZ for a long time, and according to the law – he cannot be from the same ethnic group as the Minister of Internal Affairs, in this case a Bosniak. During the day, POSKOK responded to a query from the Federal Prime Minister Nikšić, who asked for a statement on the question of whether the session of the Federation House of Representatives would violate the integrity of the investigation in the Munjić et al. case.
A large amount of evidence has already been made public, and it would be pretentious to claim that a debate in Parliament could jeopardize the integrity of the investigation, the prosecutor’s office said. The session will therefore be held on Friday, at the request of the opposition.
