Discovered the First Oil Source in Obudovac, Šamac

naftaThe first results of drilling for oil in the oil rig in Obudovac, Šamac should be known in the next ten days, said for “Glas Srpske“, the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of RS, Željko Kovačević.


He pointed out that the exploration is still ongoing, but that, according to information that he received from the director of the company “Adriatic–naftagas” which explores oil, the results are very encouraging.

“The Oil has appeared, but it is still not enough for commercial purposes. We expect in the next depth of 200 or 300 meters to find even commercial oil reserves”, said Kovačević.

As planned, the drilling of the first oil source in RS in the depth of 2.800 meters should be completed by end of August, and after that, it is planned planed the exploration and search for oil in another area, near Bijeljina, which will go in depth of 3.500 meters.

Exploring oil source in Obudovac started by the end of the May.

The company “Adriatic–naftagas” as a joint company with NIS and “Zarubezneft”, and the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining signed in September 2011 the agreement for the exploration and utilization of the oil and natural gas on the territory of RS. These companies committed to the exploration of hydrocarbons in the RS and to invest 229 million USD, of which USD 40.7 million for research and 188.3 million USD for exploitation.

For Geologic exploration last year was invested 13 million USD, and now it is planned an investment of approximately U.S. $ 19.5 million and they have shown that in these areas there is a potential for the discovery of oil and gas. Seismic tests were performed between Novi Grad – Doboj, at the area of Semberija, as well as in the area of ​​Posavina and at the area from Banja Luka to Zvornik and Majevica.
