The member of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic yesterday received the Head of the EU Delegation in BiH Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark.
Main topics at the meeting were recent developments in the process of integration and reforms on the path of BiH towards EU membership.
“The member of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic emphasized the need to intensify reforms with the aim of accelerating the development and the process of integration. They also discussed the modalities of the operationalization of the coordination mechanism for EU integrations,” as announced by the Presidency of BiH.
They both agreed that it is important to start the work of all groups within the coordination mechanism and to resolve all possible disagreements on the go.
Head of the EU Delegation and EU Special Representative in BiH Lars-Gunnar Wigemark noted that it is necessary to try with the adoption of the Law on Excise Duties again, since improvement of infrastructure, as well as the further course of reforms, is closely related to their adoption.
They agreed that it is necessary to explain to the public all benefits of excise duties and the accompanying package of favorable loans for infrastructure projects in the country.
Wigemark also informed the member of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic about the importance of the project of restoration of port Brcko with EBRD loan, within the Agenda of connection for the Western Balkans, which will be considered at the Summit in Trieste that will be held on July 12.
