mineMiners in Breza Coal Mine will be able to use automated equipment for a wide forefront until they obtain final permissions, which means that the production in this mine will not be stopped after all.

At the meeting, which was attended by representatives of the mine, Elektrioprivreda BiH, the relevant Ministry and the Institute for Standardization, was agreed to continue with the coal production although the Institute for Standardization has not issued the necessary consent for obtaining permits for the use of wide forefront machinery, which is issued by the competent ministry.

“The equipment, according to the agreement, will continue to be used until obtaining the necessary permits from the Institute”, said the director of Breza Coal Mine Camil Zaimovic, who also expressed the hope that this problem will be resolved in the next few days, when experts of the Institute will come down into the pit again and examine the machinery.

Thanks to the forefront machinery, Breza Coal Mine delivers a total of 2,000 tons of coal on a daily basis to thermal power plant Kakanj, which is five times more than with the work with axes and shovels.

In September 2014, a new mechanized wide forefront complex with excavation machine was put into operation in the pit Kamenica in Breza Coal Mine, and its value is estimated at 19.5 million BAM.

This new mechanization represents an investment of Elektroprivreda BiH, which is realized in the framework of the process of recapitalization of the mine that is part of the Concern of EPBiH. Thanks to the new forefront, a total of 1,300 miners in Breza Coal Mine will have the ability to get the position of leader of the underground mine in the region.
