The Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo (KCUS) announced that the Dutch scientific journal Elsevier reported that KCUS’s Dr. Emina Kasumagic Halilovic was among the top two percent of the most cited scientists in the world last year.

As they stated, this prestigious ranking list is based on a composite citation index for a one-year period. They noted that Scopus, a renowned bibliographic and citation database, is publicly available and provides standardized information on citations, the h–index, the hm-index adjusted for co-authorship, citations of papers in different author positions, and the composite indicator (c-score), managed by Elsevier.

Based on a meta-analysis, the c-score is calculated using an algorithm that integrates all scientific research fields, ranking research across all disciplines within the Scopus database. This composite index identifies the top two percent of the best and most influential scientists in the world, taking into account research in all scientific subdisciplines. The parameters considered in determining the c-index include: the total number of received citations (NC); the Hirsch index of received citations (H); Schreiber’s co-authorship-adjusted Hm index; the total number of citations of papers where the scientist is the sole author (NCS); the total number of citations of papers where the scientist is the sole or first author (NCSF); and the total number of citations of papers where the scientist is the sole, first, or last author (NCSFL).

The composite citation index excludes self-citations and uses a fractional modification of the h-index. The annual c-index for the 100.000 best scientists from various disciplines is publicly published and reflects results for the previous year.

Data is presented with and without self-citations, along with the citation-to-cited-paper ratio. Prof. Dr. Kasumagic Halilovic has been recognized as an outstanding scientist in the field of dermatovenerology, once again confirming her significant place in the global scientific community, KCUS announced
