Milorad Dodik, the leader of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), stated, after his meeting with RussianPresident Vladimir Putin in Moscow, that he is expecting a strong diplomatic offensive by Russia at the upcoming session of the UN Security Council, scheduled for May 12.

Dodik confirmed to RT Balkan that Russia stands by its earlier stances regarding the Dayton Peace Agreement, and that theRussian delegation in New York will request that all decisions made by High Representative Christian Schmidt be declared null and void.

Diplomatic Expectations from Moscow

Although banned by a court from holding public office, Dodik continues with intense international activities on behalf of his party. He emphasized that the meeting in Moscow represents a continuation of political cooperation with Russia.

“We believe that Russia, in accordance with previous positions, will request that all decisions by Christian Schmidt be annulled and not be legally valid,” said Dodik, repeating the SNSD position of not recognizing the legitimacy of the current High Representative.

Gas and Accusations of Hypocrisy

During the conversation, Dodik thanked the Russian President for continuous gas deliveries, but he used the chance to criticizepolitical representatives in Sarajevo. He accused them of cynicism because, according to him, they use Russian gas while simultaneously refusing official talks with Moscow. He added that the SNSD remains firm in its position not to impose sanctions on Russia, and to refrain from participating in anti-Russian forums.

A Look Back at May 9 and European Policy

Dodik looked back at the Victory Day celebration, stating that some circles in Europe are trying to downplay the significance of the Red Army in the Second World War. He also criticized the decision to celebrate Europe Day instead of the victory over fascism, calling it a “cynical approach” of the descendants of those who sided with Nazi Germany.

Although economic cooperation has been made difficult due to international sanctions, the leader of the SNSD emphasized that they will strive to maintain the level of relations, especially in the field of education, highlighting the interest of young people in studying in Russia.
