President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), Milorad Dodik, announced at a press conference today that the party will propose that the Government of Republika Srpska provide free textbooks for all primary school students and reduce the internship period from one year to six months.
“These are proposals from our youth community that were adopted at the session of the SNSD Presidency. The government will cover 70 to 80 percent of the textbook costs, while local communities that choose to participate will cover 20 to 30 percent,” Dodik said.
Dodik also stated that the session included discussions on increasing salaries for public sector employees in Republika Srpska starting in September, as well as providing one-offfinancial assistance to pensioners and young people.
Dodik described the planned digitalization of the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina as “a deception intended to serve as a prelude to manipulating election results.”
“We recognize what they are trying to do and are working to prevent it. I would like to remind you that in locations where pilot projects were conducted during the last elections, SNSD received more votes than before,” the SNSD President added.
“We will ensure the digital sovereignty of Republika Srpska. We will establish a public company to manage the relay infrastructure. In addition, we will establish a public company to manage all fortresses in Republika Srpska, which require reconstruction,” Dodik announced.
He said that SNSD is already preparing for the upcoming general elections, expressing confidence that the party’s candidates for President of Republika Srpska and for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina will win. The candidates have not yet been announced.
Željka Cvijanović, a member of the SNSD Presidency and thePresidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said that the party welcomes “a balanced approach by the new U.S. administration toward Bosnia and Herzegovina.”
“SNSD remains committed to improving relations with those who understand the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and will seek to build relations with those with whom it has not had strong ties so far,” she said.
