Dodik Calls for Bosnia and Herzegovina to Sanction the International Criminal Court in The Hague

Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said today that BiH Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković is using every opportunity to show that he is, as he says, a “minister for failure” and that Bosnia and Herzegovina is “captured by Bosniak ambitions.”

Dodik criticized Konaković’s support for the International Criminal Court (ICC), claiming that he has thus further proven that he is not up to the position he holds. He stressed that conducting foreign policy is the responsibility of the BiH Presidency, which, according to him, has not made any decision on this issue.

“The only correct decision would be for BiH to withhold support for that court, which is not recognized by the United States, Russia, or many other countries,” Dodik wrote on the social network X.

He referred to former US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court, saying that it is a clear message that “attacks on the sovereignty of states and the rights of their citizens to legitimate defense will not be tolerated.”

“That is why I fully support this decision and ask that for the same reasons BiH sanction the International Criminal Court, withdraw from it and put an end to the abuse of international institutions,” Dodik concluded.

As a reminder, on February 7, Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing sanctions on the International Criminal Court, accusing it of “illegitimate and unfounded actions directed against America and its close ally Israel.”

This decision imposes financial and visa restrictions on individuals and their families who assist the ICC in investigations against American citizens or their allies.

Trump signed the order during a visit by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington. The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu last November for alleged war crimes in Gaza, which Israel denies. The same order was issued for one of the Hamas commanders, Klix.ba writes.
