Presidency member of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Milorad Dodik commented on the blog of the head of the European Union (EU) Delegation in BiH, Johan Sattler, that words like reconciliation, after the inhumanity in Srebrenica, sound empty.
Sattler wrote on his blog that after so much inhumanity in Srebrenica, words like reconciliation sound empty, or even insulting to the victims.
“Maybe it’s a provocation for him, but for the Serbs, it’s a pain. We need to find a way, and they’ve already found some goal of their own to divert attention. It’s up to us to think about how to make it and perpetuate it in the most appropriate way and that all people like Sattler should experience that whenever they come, so that he doesn’t teach us some lessons”, commented Dodik.
Sattler said in his blog that no one can be expected to forgive the genocide and that without justice and full respect for human losses, true reconciliation is impossible.
“So far, we could hear various stories coming from the EU about reconciliation, and now we hear what Sattler said. He has long been in a position to support only the Muslim side. He certainly would not have said that if he had gone to a Serbian cemetery, say in Zalazje where people died in the same way. Of course, a big and serious crime happened in Srebrenica, that is not in dispute at all, but the politicization of it all, especially Sattler and his colleagues, is unacceptable,” Dodik pointed out.
He believes that the efforts of the head of the EU Delegation in BiH are unnecessary and illusory and that foreigners are the main culprits for the non-functioning of BiH and that if there can be no reconciliation in BiH, “it cannot even exist”.
“It is difficult to provide reconciliation based on the history that we have behind us, but we can provide understanding and in this regard we absolutely need to move ahead,” concluded Dodik, Klix.ba writes.
