Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik said that the security and institutional situation in this Bosnian entity is stable, and stated that all moves by Republika Srpska and entity institutions are based on respect for the Constitution and the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“We will take care of important matters. We respect the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska. Everything we do is based on that. Let it be clear to everyone that our position is Dayton. We want to preserve peace, security and stability, and all prepared acts are in that direction,” Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka, after a meeting of the highest officials of Republika Srpska with the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of RS and security agencies at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He emphasized that Republika Srpska is not implementing secessionist plans, but rather stated that the Constitution is being defended.

“We have no secessionist plans. We intend to act in accordance with the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina as it is written. We also want to talk. We defend constitutionality and they do not want to talk,” Dodik said.

We expect Serbs in BiH institutions to comply with the laws of the RS National Assembly when they come into force.

Dodik said that he expects “responsibility from the representatives of Republika Srpska the moment the Law on the Prohibition of the Activities of Certain State Institutions and Their Employees in Republika Srpska comes into force.”

“We expect all Serbs employed in institutions at the level of Bosnia and Herzegovina to comply with that. Here they are also waiting for better salaries, but it is not just a matter of salary but also of patriotism,” Dodik said.

Speaking about the situation in Republika Srpska, he stated that the situation is very stable and that there is a decrease in the general crime rate.

“It is lower in percentage terms than in EU countries,” Dodik emphasized.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, stated that the constitutional obligation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republika Srpska is to maintain a favorable state of public order and that it will be a guarantor of the security of all citizens, taking into account, as he put it, “the politically rigged trial against the President of the Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik”.

“That is why we want to send a message to the citizens of the Republika Srpska that they do not need to worry about security and that all our activities are within the framework of the Constitution”, emphasized Minister Karan at a press conference after the meeting.

Karan assessed that the security situation in the Republika Srpska is very good and recalled that more than 200 million KM has been invested in the development of the RS MUP in the next few years.

Karan said that the salaries of police officers in the Republika Srpska will be higher than those of other members of the security structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina and emphasized that cooperation with other police agencies in BiH and the region is good, which is a constitutional obligation and is being done continuously.

“For several years, we have had a visible trend of improving security in the Republika Srpska, with a decrease in crime rates, especially in general. When we take into account the fight against organized crime and international crime, in cooperation with other police agencies we achieve the best results. Good cooperation with the citizens of the Republika Srpska has also contributed to this,” Karan emphasized.

The meeting was also attended by the Chairperson of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović, the Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska Radovan Višković, the Minister of Finance of the Republika Srpska Zora Vidović, the Director of the Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) of BiH Darko Ćulum, and the Director of the Service for Foreigners Affairs of BiH Žarko Laketa.
