President of the RS Milorad Dodik said in an interview for Politico that a referendum on the independence of RS will not be held next year, despite adopted policies of SNSD.
Dodik said that he understands the circumstances and the context and that he is aware that a referendum on the independence of this BH entity could cause many reactions in 2018.
However, the President of the RS reiterated that there is a possibility for the topic of secession to be on the agenda and that it follows the path to independence.
Politico recalled that Dodik announced the proclamation of independence of the RS on several occasions, but high diplomats with significant powers in BiH clearly noted that this would lead to the removal of Dodik from the political scene of BiH since the secession is unconstitutional.
The President of the RS admitted that he never received the support from Russia to hold a referendum on the independence of the RS, and Politico also noted that Russia is using Dodik as a “paw” in the Balkans region.
Dodik described BiH as a “state with a deficiency”, which is on its way to further fragmentation, and he said for the European Union that it is a creation in fading. On the other hand, the President of the RS praised Russia and China, for which he said that they are offering friendship to Balkan countries without pushing of certain political influences.
