Domen Prevc broke the world record in ski flights, after achieving a flight of 254.5 meters on Planica.

However, Prevc did not win the competition on Planica even with the world record, because his compatriot Anže Lanišeka won with a slightly shorter flight, but with better grades.

In the first jump, Prevc flew 245 meters, for which he received 229.7 points, while he received 245.3 points for the historic flight. He won a total of 475 points. That was enough for him to “only” second place, because Lanišek collected 482.1 points.

Only the best 30 jumpers of the season flew at Planica this morning, and more than 17,000 spectators cheered them on.

Planica has already offered many beautiful things for Slovenians. On Friday, Prevc and Lanišek ensured the celebration with a double victory, and on Saturday, in the last team competition of the season, the Slovenians finished in third place, behind the Germans and the excellent Austrians.

Austrian Stefan Kraft held the previous world record with a flight of 253.5 meters from 2017.

Recently, Prevc’s sister Nika Prevc set a world record in ski flying in Vikersund at 236 meters, even 45.5 meters longer than her personal best. She improved the previous record of Norwegian Silja Opseth from last year on the same hill by 5.5 meters.

The eldest brother Peter Prevc also held the world record in flying in 2015. Then he became the first flyer to reach 250 meters.
