Dragan Covic: HDZ BiH Will Strenghten its Partnership with SDA

covic-we-must-have-an-alternative-solution-to-agreement-with-sdp_1422603909There must be an alternative solution to the agreement with the SDP, because if we depend on anyone, we will not have a solution.
Then nothing will change for the next three months. Which means, there must be an alternative to such a solution, and since the SDA is dominant, it is obligated to try to find a solution. I’ll wait till Monday to hear what they succeeded in doing, said Dragan Covic, president of the HDZ BiH and Croat member of the BiH Presidency, in a statement to Fena, commenting on attempts to unblock the selection of the president and vice presidents of FBiH.

He confirmed that he had a long conversation on this topic with Bakir Izetbegovic, Bosniak member of the BiH Presidency and vice president of the SDA, and that this agreement “went in the direction that over the weekend we should definitively know how to resolve the problem with the Serb caucus in the House of Peoples, or next week we can conclude the appointment of the president and vice presidents of the Federation.”
“I think that we’ve spent time and we came into a situation that now it must end any way possible,” said Covic.

He says that according to him, there was no demand to approach the establishment of executive government at the state level without waiting for de-blocking of the process of establishing government in the Federation.

“And those who could potentially go with such initiatives know what my stance is. The only thing we can do is implement in full the election results and we will wait for Monday to see what will happen in the Federation. This is the starting move that should withdraw in order to enter the formation of government at the BiH level,” said Covic.

In a statement for Fena, he stressed that the HDZ BiH would continue to insist on cooperation with the SDA, and if this partnership does not have sufficient capacity in one coalition consideration, perhaps it would in another.

“I don’t want to prejudge anything. We’ll wait for Monday to see what will happen. The only sure thing is that the HDZ BiH will insist and strengthen partnership with the SDA and transform it into a strategic partnership,” said Covic.
