The Speaker of the House of Peoples of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dragan Covic, met with the President of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko, on whose invitation he is on an official visit to the Russian Federation.

“The meeting was assessed as very useful for enhancing bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation, especially at the upper house level, which play a prominent role in strengthening democracy and preserving the values of society,” was stated in a statement from the Office of the Speaker of the House of Peoples.

In May 2020, the House of Peoples will host an annual conference of Senate Presidents, who will present and discuss the importance and role of the upper houses of parliaments in multinational states.

“Ms. Matviyenko once again thanked Covic for inviting her to the conference, which is a new opportunity to exchange experiences and opinions at the highest parliamentary level and in a multilateral format,” the statement said. On the eve of the meeting, Covic paid tribute and laid a wreath on the Tomb of an Unknown Hero.
