Dzaferovic: Sanctions are there to protect Peace, EU Countries should join in

The BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović believes that the newly imposed sanctions by the US government against Milorad Dodik and others is an act that will make a significant contribution to protecting constitutional order and peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, as well as give support to the fight against corruption.

“This is a clear message that the destruction of state institutions, as the foundation of peace and stability, will not be tolerated.

Also, it is a clear message to Dodik that he cannot expect any reward, but only a harsh punishment for the attack on the constitutional order and the blockade of the state institutions,” said Džaferović.

He believes that at this moment, the most important thing is for European and other countries to join this initiative, and through joint action, impose sanctions and restrictions against Dodik, his associates in politics and business, as well as against companies that are under Dodik’s control.

“If Dodik, despite today’s event, continues to work on destroying the country and peace, sanctions should be expanded and strengthened starting tomorrow, and they should hit a wider circle of his associates even harder until Dodik’s regime realizes that it cannot destroy Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Dayton Peace Agreement and the peaceful future of the people living in this country,” underlined Džaferović.
