Two days after the victory of the football national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina over Italy and qualification to the World Cup, captain Edin Dzeko, who left the last atom of strength on the field and earned an injury, spoke.
Dzeko played all 120 minutes, and suffered a shoulder injury at the end of the game. All this with 40 years behind him, showing that his homeland always comes first, and he was rewarded by qualifying for his second World Championship.
Now he sent a very emotional message. Dzeko emphasized that it was not easy, but that the player’s character decided.
“It wasn’t easy. There were times when we were challenged, when we fell. But we didn’t give up. We believed in each other and in what we are building together. Today, when we say that Bosnia and Herzegovina is at the World Cup, we know that behind that sentence is a huge amount of work, sacrifice and the character of this team. I am proud of every player who wore this jersey, of the coaching staff that led us and of all the people who were with us, even when it didn’t work out,” emphasizes our captain.
He is especially grateful to the fans, who followed BiH during all the away games during the qualification matches.
“Special thanks to our fans. Your support carried us through every game, in every city, in every stadium. You were our extra player and that’s why I say that this is not the success of an individual. This is the success of all of us. Both those on the field and those in the stands. The success of a country that knows the value of togetherness. As a captain, I feel a huge honor, but also a responsibility. This is the moment we dreamed of and longed for… Let’s move on, great things are ahead of us. You are the only one,” he concluded, Klix.ba writes.
