Metropolitan Hrizostom of Dabro-Bosnia celebrated the Easter liturgy this morning in the Cathedral Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos in Sarajevo, with the priests of that diocese serving.

A large number of believers gathered to attend the liturgy in peace and prayer, and sent messages of peace and unity.

Orthodox believers in Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world are celebrating Easter today, one of the greatest and most joyful Christian holidays that symbolizes the victory of life over death, good over evil, and light over darkness. Easter is celebrated as the holiday of Christ’s resurrection and is a symbol of the victory of life, hope, and renewal.

Easter is celebrated for three days, Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Easter. According to belief, Jesus Christ was resurrected on the third day after his death. That is why believers greet each other with the words “Christ is risen – Truly risen”.

After the liturgy, believers traditionally gather in a family environment, with a rich meal and the inevitable dyed eggs, which further emphasizes the spirit of togetherness and joy of this great holiday.
