The Deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH Edita Đapo spoke yesterday in Sarajevo with the delegation of the board of directors of EBRD.

The conversation was held under the regular visit of members of the board of directors of EBRD to countries where the bank operates, with the goal to have the directors become familiar with the progress of transition and the effect of EBRD activities on that process.

The Director of EBRD for the US James Hudson said that EBRD for a long time already is present in BiH, and until now has implemented projects worth 1,3 billion euros, mainly in the public sector and development of infrastructure.

He said that the interest of EBRD is to continue to invest in BIH with an increased interest in the development of the private sector, and that one of the goals of this visit is to gather adequate information for development strategies for EBRD activities in BiH in the next period.

Đapo thanked EBRD for their cooperation until now and continued support that it lends to BiH through various projects.

Emphasizing the work of the BiH Council of Ministers on maintaining fiscal stability of countries in partnership with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), she said that the current macroeconomic indicators of BIH are encouraging and show that the country is going in the right direction.

Đapo said that BiH is interested for the support of EBRD in private enterprises in the energy sector, tourism, agriculture, timber, textile and metal industries, and in which BiH has a tradition of manufacturing and a qualified work force.

She said that the BiH Council of Ministers, in cooperation with entity governments, are continuing their efforts in improving the business environment for private companies.
