The European Commission (EC) expects BiH to refrain from undertaking unilateral trade measures without prior consultation with the EC, it was pointed out at the sixth meeting of the Subcommittee on Trade, Industry, Customs and Taxation between the EU and BiH, which was held today.

Chair of the BiH delegation, Brankica Pandurević, told FENA that the EC reiterated it is necessary to adopt a national quality infrastructure strategy in the area of the free movement of goods.

She added that the EC emphasized the importance of adopting strategic guidelines for the harmonization of support for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.

“The BiH delegation informed the European Commission about the harmonization of the Law on Excise with EU regulations in the part related to the definition of small breweries, about the decision on the quality of liquid petroleum fuels, the implementation of additional CEFTA protocols and other issues,” stated Pandurević.

She also stated that the BiH delegation informed the EC that the Indirect Taxation Administration started implementing the New Computerized Transit System “Phase 5” last summer.

The European Commission called on BiH to finalize its accession to the World Trade Organization as soon as possible and to implement the Action Plan for a common regional market, Fena reports.
