The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, expressed his expectation of the imminent opening of EU accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The slow progress of the countries of the Western Balkans towards the EU has disappointed both sides, the European Union must fulfill its promises, he said.
Michel said at the Bled Strategic Forum on the membership of the countries of the region that both sides must be ready for the expansion of the European Union by 2030.
Earlier, the chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, on the eve of the Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia, said that the European Union (EU) and its institutions must be more clearly and decisively determined towards the enlargement process.
This year, the Bled Strategic Forum is being held under the title “Solidarity for Global Security”.
This is the leading conference in Central and Southeastern Europe. It is held every year at the end of summer in the alpine surroundings of Lake Bled in Slovenia.
