Edin Dzeko Set to Stay in Istanbul After Positive Decision?

After two seasons, Edin Džeko is leaving Fenerbahçe. Now, information has emerged that he could stay in Istanbul, but change the club he will play for.

After playing for Roma and Inter, in which he won four trophies in Italy, Edin Džeko arrived at Fenerbahçe as a free agent in 2023.

Galatasaray was a level above them in both seasons and Dijamant failed to reach the Turkish championship title.

It has long been speculated that Edin Džeko could strengthen the ranks of Hajduk, which is crying out for the title in Croatia, but so far the deal has not been made official.

According to media reports in our neighboring country, Džeko’s condition for Hajduk is to put together a competitive team that could actually win the title.

It’s no secret that Dijamant is also being called upon by fans in Grbavica, but a return to Željezničar, even though he will soon enter his fifth decade of life, is not realistic at this point.

Now, information is coming from Turkey that Edin Džeko could stay in this country, even in Istanbul, but just change the club he plays for.

Journalist Sercan Hamzaoğlu reported that Edin Džeko’s agent recently had a meeting with representatives of Istanbul Basaksehir.

He allegedly suggested Dijamant to this club, and Basaksehir’s technical director Çağdaş Atan gave a positive response.

An official offer for Edin Džeko has not yet been made, and some other clubs from the Turkish Super League are interested in his services.

Turkish Milliyet announced that it has learned that Edin Džeko plans to play football for another season and that he will sign with the club that makes the best offer.

It is clear that the Džeko family has become accustomed to life in Istanbul and that from that point of view this offer is tempting, but the question is how realistic it would be for Džeko to attack trophies in Turkey with this team.
