The Opposition of Republika Srpska represents the Shadow Government in June

The shadow government, announced by the opposition in Republika Srpska, will be presented in June. It should bring together experts from various fields who are not members of any party. This move by the opposition is a response to, as they say, the inaction of the current Republika Srpska Government. The government says that the opposition has the right to do so, but that they do not have the capacity to respond to their own challenges.

The opposition in Republika Srpska has announced the formation of a shadow government. Names have been proposed. Formation is expected by mid-June, the SDS announced. They will analyze the work of the current government.

“We have conducted a series of conversations with a large number of experts from various fields who are not members of any political party. We have the consent of a significant number of people who have agreed to be part of the shadow government, some do not want to be exposed out of fear, because they want to protect themselves, but they are ready to contribute ideas,” said SDS President Milan Milicevic.

The concept is to offer solutions, the opposition says. Along with criticizing the work of the current government, the goal is to be proactive.

“The general goal is that all those who are not part of the government can offer solutions and that we show that we have enough professional and educated people who can take over the government tomorrow, that is, take responsibility for the future of the Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said the president of the People’s Front Jelena Trivić.

“Shadow governments as we know them from other examples are usually tied to two-party systems, so you can practically know in advance what the future government will look like. It’s a little different with us, but I still think that as an idea it’s something that’s very good,” said the head of the PDP MPs’ Club in the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska, Igor Crnadak.

The government in the Republika Srpska has no dilemma. The opposition, they say, is not even able to respond to its own challenges.

“They really have the democratic right to do that. From what we see, they are not able to do even basic things as an opposition, let alone be a government. Good luck to them,” said Nebojša Radmanović, president of the SNSD Political Council.

A shadow government is a good idea, believes political analyst Željko Raljić. It can bring solutions to systemic problems. Problems in public companies, funds, healthcare…

“We had something like that in the 90s. It turned out that it could work, and after that I will remind you that the people who were part of it were later in power. One of them is Milorad Dodik, not to mention other names from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” recalls Raljić.

The initiative to form a shadow government was launched by the SDS. It also gathered around itself other opposition parties in the Republika Srpska: the PDP, the People’s Front and the List for Justice and Order.
