Director General for Europe at the European Union’s External Affairs Service (EEAS) Angelina Eichorst arrived on Tuesday evening on a visit to BiH, and first she met with the members of the BiH Presidency.
During her stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina today and tomorrow, Eichorst will also talk with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, and the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Laszlo Sticz.
On behalf of Deputy Secretary General for Political Affairs Enrique Mora, she will also co-chair the tenth meeting of the six political directors of the Western Balkan countries and the EU, which will be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This forum brings together senior officials from the ministries of foreign affairs of the Western Balkan countries and the European External Action Service to discuss current foreign policy issues and ways to solve them together.
“Following the decision of the European Council from December 2023 that accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina will begin when the necessary level of compliance with membership requirements is achieved, Eichorst will use the meetings to request progress in reforms from representatives of the executive and legislative authorities in BiH, with considering that the Commission submits its report on progress to the European Council no later than March 2024,” said the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
