Director General for Europe in the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Service, Angelina Eichhorst, is on an official visit to Sarajevo, where she met today with the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto.

Commenting on the meeting with representatives of the ruling coalition at the state level, Eichhorst said that the European Union is of the opinion that “everyone should be heard”.

“The coalition in Bosnia and Herzegovina has worked in a constructive spirit until now. Solutions should be found through political negotiations. We understand that in these circumstances it is not easy even for the representatives of the coalition to meet. We appealed to them to work on preserving the constructive spirit,” Ejhorst told reporters in Sarajevo, after a meeting with the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto.

The rule of law is crucial for the functioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Eichorst pointed out, adding that this message has also been sent to the authorities of Republika Srpska.

“These 14 priorities will lead to the improvement of the quality of life of citizens. Any unconstitutional actions are unacceptable, the EU is ready to work on finding political solutions, but also to draw a line if things go too far,” Eichhorst emphasized at a press conference in Sarajevo.

Kristo: The visit of Eichhorst is a strong support for BiH on the EU path

“Angelina Eichhorst’s visit is a strong support for Bosnia and Herzegovina on the way to the European Union,” said the Chairperson of the BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, after a meeting with the General Director for Europe in the EU’s Foreign Affairs Service, Angelina Eichhorst.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina has candidate status, and the political representatives of Bosnia and Herzegovina need to show credibility,” said Kristo, adding that the Council of Ministers is focused on fulfilling 14 key priorities from the European Commission’s Opinion.

As she stated, preparations are underway for the Fifth Stabilization Meeting of the Council for the Implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement in the European Union, scheduled for July 19 in Brussels.

“Within the Council of Ministers, we follow the positions of the EU, and one of the issues that is in focus is the conclusion of an agreement with FRONTEX. It was also proposed to display the EU flag in order to show our commitment to the EU in that way,” stated Kristo at the press conference after the meeting with Director General for Europe in the EU External Affairs Service Angelina Eichhorst.

As part of her official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ajhorst met today with SNSD leader Milorad Dodik, HDZ BiH Dragan Čović, People and Justice Elmedin Konaković and SDP BiH Nermin Nikšić, and a meeting with members of the Presidency of BiH is scheduled.
