Eight Cities listed as the most Attractive Destinations in the RS

etno seloCities of Banja Luka, Prijedor, Bijeljina, Istocno Sarajevo and Trebinje as well as the municipalities of Teslic, Visegrad and Foca, were listed in the first rank during mapping of tourist destinations and tourism products in the RS, according to the Commission that was established by the Government of RS.

Members of the Commission were representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of RS, the Tourism Organization of RS and the Ministry of Trade and Tourism of the RS.

Member of the Commission and the Secretary of Trade and Tourism at the Chamber of Commerce of the RS, Dragan Sobot, said that the criteria referred to several segments, such as the number of guests and the number of overnight stays.

“We made ranks on that basis. If a destination is listed in the first rank, it means that it recorded more arrivals and overnight stays, had more offers etc. These were the standards,” explained Sobot.

The Commission, as announced from the Government of the RS, as a key criteria in determination of priority areas, places and destinations for tourism development, analyzed their impact on economic growth in the RS, as well as other parameters, such as information on the payment of taxes.

“By analysis of information and recommendations, the Commission proposed that as a tourist destinations are identified areas that are characterized by attractive tourist motives, with already-established tourist facilities, which record an increase in the domain of tourism trends in the RS,” as announced from the Government of the RS.

Ranking was performed on the basis of analysis of the situation on the field in local communities, and they were marked as local communities of first, second and third rank.

In the second rank were listed: Šipovo, Ribnik, Laktaši, Mrkonjić Grad, Milići, Petrovo/Doboj, Srebrenica, Zvornik, Vlasenica, Gacko and Novi Grad. Prnjavor, Rogatica, Kalinovik, Kozarska Dubica and Pelagićevo were listed in the third rank, together with Bratunac, Brod, Gradiška, Nevesinje, Bileća, Srbac and Ljubinje.
