The Embassy of Italy in Sarajevo is pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition “Bernini School and Roman Baroque. Great Works of Palazzo Chighi in Aricci” in the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo.
At the initiative of Italian Ambassador to BiH Nicola Minasi, for the first time, exhibitions of valuable historical, cultural and artistic values of some of the greatest representatives of the Italian baroque will be exhibited, including Giovan Lorenzo Bernini, Pietro da Cortona, Borgognone, Pierfrancesco Mola. These masterpiece works belong to the collection of the Museum of Roman Baroque Art “Palazzo Chigi”, located in Aricci.
The exhibition is conceived as a journey through the world of Italian Baroque through works of various types, such as portraits, landscapes, dead nature and sketches of monumental frescoes from Romanesque churches and noble palaces.
In addition to forty paintings, the exhibition will also feature various decorative items and medals designed by Bernini, and the entire exhibition of visitors offers a comprehensive view of this artistic period, created in Rome in the XVI century, which became known for its grand effects, that characterizes the works of its representatives, from art to architecture, from painting to engraving.
The exhibition will be opened on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 at 6 pm, and a public ceremony will be attended by ambassador Nicola Minasi, director of the Art Gallery Strajo Krsmanovic and prof. Stefano Petrucci, curator of the exhibition.
