Embassy of Russia comments on the possible Lawsuit against Serbia

ivancovThe Embassy of Russia in BiH announced that the initiative on the revision of the judgment by the BiH lawsuit against Serbia could have serious consequences for the stability, political harmony and inter-ethnic dialogue in BiH. In addition, it will affect its social peace and economic development and the situation in the region.

The statement adds that Russia as a state guarantor of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH points out that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has already ruled on this procedure, and that the re-activation of  lawsuit represents a  unilateral move that is not supported by all the constituent peoples of BiH, and it does not have an approval of state institutions, which is necessary  to be in accordance with the Constitution.

“Taking into account the previously stated, we invite you once again to carefully assess the expediency of such agenda which will detriment relations in the strengthening of trust, dialogue and cooperation, without which the progress of BiH as a multiethnic state is not possible,” says the Embassy of the Russian Federation.

Moreover, they emphasize that it is very important to warn the initiators of their responsibility towards the people of BiH because of the inevitable serious step backwards in the complicated process of inter-ethnic reconciliation in BiH, whose signs in this regard are seen already.

The President of the SDA Party, Bakir Izetbegovic, said last week that there will be a revision of the judgment by the BiH lawsuit against Serbia before the ICJ in the Hague if the expert group, led by agent Sakib Softic, estimates that this has the valid elements.
