sloveniaThe money for the payment of unpaid foreign currency savings of Ljubljanska Bank is fully secured in the budget of the Republic of Slovenia and distributed on 3 years, due to the fact that depositors can now apply from the 1st of December 2015 to the 31st of December 2017, as will, considering the period of submitting the application, last the payments under the verification procedure, as stated from the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in BiH.

By the middle of May 2016, Slovenia received more than 21,000 requests for verification, issued more than 2,900 informative calculations, and it will realize more than 1,000 payments to the accounts of depositors by the end of May.

Under the auspices of the Council of Europe – the department for supervision over the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, on the 6th and 7th of April 2016 in Sarajevo was held a constructive meeting with the authorities of BiH, where it was established that the documentation which is necessary for the verification procedure is in the archives of the former Ljubljanska Bank branch offices in Sarajevo.

It was agreed that the authorities of BiH will enable scanning and use of this documentation together with already obtained electronic database, which would allow the start of the verification process for depositors of former branch offices of Ljubljanska Bank in Sarajevo.

After the meeting that was held in Sarajevo on the 27th of April 2016 between both parties was signed an agreement which, among others, contains the obligation of the authorities of BiH to provide Slovenia the access to the archive in order to scan the required documents and the obligation of Slovenia, within 6 weeks after receipt, to enter documentation in an electronic database and begin the process of verification of depositors of former Ljubljanska Bank branch offices in Sarajevo.

Slovenia is also committed to use thus obtained data exclusively for the purposes of verification of unpaid old foreign currency requirements.

The Republic of Slovenia already asked the authorities of BiH to enable them to access, scan and use the necessary documentation through diplomatic channels on the 5th of May 2016.
