Embassy of Sweden Donated 120 Books to the Library of Sarajevo

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAmbassador of Sweden to BiH Fredrik Schiller and Counsellor at the Embassy of Irene Westman visited the Library of Sarajevo and presented a donation of books by Swedish authors.

During the handover of books at the multimedia center “Mak”, Ambassador Schiller commented on the popularity of Swedish crime novels in Sweden, but also in the world. As he said, this genre is extremely popular so that the sale of mysteries can even finance some other genres, such as the classics.

Speaking about the donation, he said that they bought all available translated books by Swedish authors with the financial assistance of the Fund for Culture of the Embassy of Sweden.

Among the donated titles is the Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson, as well as titles by Lars Kepura, August Stridberg, and beside mystery novels, the book Pippi Longstocking and books Zulmira Bečevica, author of BiH origin who lives and works in Sweden were also donated.

Ambassador of Sweden pointed out that reading is very important and wanted to continue the cooperation with the Library of Sarajevo such is representation of Swedish authors.

On behalf of the Library of Sarajevo, Alma Sarajlić pointed out that this donation of 120 books is important for the Library of Sarajevo, because they never had the opportunity to purchase these books, and those are popular titles.
