13262299_1185418728175748_368045995_oAgreement on the reconstruction of water supply network in the Sarajevo Canton was signed by the Minister of Utility Economy and Infrastructure of the Sarajevo Canton Senad Hasanspahić, Mayor of the Stari Grad Municipality Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, Advisor to the Mayor of the Centar Municipality Mustafa Resić, Assistant Mayor of the Novi Grad Municipality Emir Dedović, and the Director of the Cantonal Public Utility Enterprise (KJKP) „Vodovod i kanalizacija“ Nezir Hadžić.

“This is a very significant project of the reconstruction of water supply network in the area of the Obala Kulina bana Street, from the Skenderija Bridge to the Drvenija Bridge, in the length of almost two kilometers with high profile pipes. With its implementation, we will reduce the losses of water because the residents of this central part of the city have been staying out of water in the night hours practically for years. After the completion of this project for which the pertinent ministry allocated 650.000 BAM from water charges, we hope for a better water supply for the residents of the municipalities Centar and Stari Grad,” said Mustafa Resić.

This project will be implemented by the KJKP “Vodovod i kanalizacija” in accordance with its design solutions.

“Our analysis found that the water supply network is the most critical in these parts of the city and we have chosen this locality as the most demanding one for execution of works and launched activities on the reconstruction of the water supply network, with the aim of helping Sarajevo become a city without reductions of water,” said the Director of this enterprise Nezir Hadžić.

Hadžić announced that, depending on the locality, the works will last for 60 to 90 days, which means that the works should be in the final stage already in early September. Moreover, Hadžić took advantage of the opportunity to ask the citizens to be patient during the execution of the mentioned works. The Ministry of Utility Economy and Infrastructure of the Sarajevo Canton allocated 450.000 BAM for the reconstruction of the water supply network in the Stari Grad Municipality and 853.610 BAM for the reconstruction of the water supply network in the Novi Grad Municipality.

Implementation of the project will not cause issues in the regular water supply because a new pipeline will be built. Thus, the citizens will be cut off from water supply network only when the two pipelines are to be connected.

Reconstruction of the water supply network in the Stari Grad Municipality will be executed in the area from the Drvenija Bridge to the City Hall, in the length of 960 meters.

Assistant to the Mayor of Novi Grad Municipality Dedović said that this municipality also has issues with water supply and that he hopes that this agreement, which also includes reconstruction of the water supply network at the section Alipašin most-Čengić Vila, will solve the current issues at least to some extent.
