Čapljina Ravno Road ekapija.baSoutheastern Herzegovina might exit the traffic isolation in the future. Namely, except for the continuation of construction of the road Neum-Stolac, construction of the road which would connect Ravno with Čapljina is also planned, stated the Prime Minister of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, Dr. Nevenko Herceg.

Area of southeastern Herzegovina is probably the only area in B&H where as much as four municipalities – Čapljina, Ravno, Neum and Stolac – are not connected with two-lane roads. Due to traffic isolation, emigration of population from this area is increased and tourism also suffers a lot, since tourist destinations such as Neum, the Vjetrenica Cave or the Temple of the Queen of Peace in Hrasno are not connected with the inland with modern roads.

So far, a little over six kilometers of road were constructed between Neum and Stolac. Procedure of approval of loan funds for the main road M 17.3 Stolac-Neum is nearing completion these days. Creditors are the European Investment Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the World Bank, and the continuation of construction of the road which would lead further towards Broćanac, across Cerovica and Drenovac, towards Stolac is expected by mid-2016.

Better traffic connectivity of southeastern Herzegovina with the world will be additionally contributed to by the Adriatic-Ionian highway. According to the plan, if the Republic of Croatia gives its consent, this highway should start from Počitelj and go further towards the south of the continent along the Popovo field.
