Energy Sector Strengthened B&H Industrial Production

energetikaThe sector for the production of electricity provided encouraging business results during nine months in 2013 (January-September), in comparison to previous months and gave a positive contribution to the overall industrial production in B&H, showed the analysis from the Directorate of Economic Planning of B&H.

Thus, according to the latest available data of the Independent System Operator in B&H from January-September 2013, the total production of electricity amounted to 11.983 GWH, which is an increase by more than 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

Favorable weather conditions and the very good hydrological situation throughout the year resulted in a record growth in production in hydropower production, which was the key reason of the overall increase in the production of electricity in B&H.

Observing the structure of total electricity production in B&H during these nine months in 2013, hydropower plants participated with 48 percent, while thermal power plants participated with 52 percent. By comparison, in 2012 thermal power plants took part in the total production of electricity with 69 percent, and hydropower plants with 31 percent.

Thus, the total production of electricity in hydroelectric plants in nine months from last year doubled in comparison to the same period last year.
