The Embassy of the USA in BiH is organising the second state English language spelling competition or better known as ‘Spelling Bee’ in BiH, reports FENA.

The project started with 2000 pupils from 82 schools across BIH who competed in their classrooms in February this year. This week, the winners will compete at regional level in eight American corners in BiH, and two winners from each region will participate at the final state competition which will be held in Sarajevo on 11 May.

At the each competition, member of the jury, an American representing the US Embassy, will say a word to spell. ‘Spelling Bee’ tests the English language spelling abilities of pupils. Having in mind that English spelling is rather irregular, unlike many other languages, it is a well-known fact that this competition is quite challenging and such competitions are being held throughout the USA in order to help pupils with their study of language and their improving of spelling skills and improving their vocabulary but also because this competition is rather interesting for both the pupils and the audience.

Regional winners, their parents and teachers will compete at the final competition in Sarajevo and the participants will be awarded with Apple I-Pad, said the US Embassy.
