Epidemiological Situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is stable

The meeting of the Crisis Staff of the Federal Ministry of Health, which discussed the current epidemiological situation with the Covid-19 virus and other current respiratory infections, was held today in Sarajevo.

Assistant Minister for Public Health in the Federal Ministry of Health, Goran Čerkez, pointed out that the epidemiological situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is stable, and that 33 people are being treated in hospital as a result of the coronavirus infection, while two people are on ventilators.

– We certainly have more patients than these numbers, but testing is often done at home and with antigen tests that are not recorded. In December, 10 people died as a result of the coronavirus. Covid-19 is present and it is necessary to monitor the situation. The situation in the region and the world is stable, but the situation in China is worrying. Countries in the vicinity of China and several European countries have introduced additional testing for China, but we are of the opinion that this variant from China should not pose a great risk for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we have decided not to adopt more restrictive measures in relation to Chinese citizens – stated Čerkez.

The position of the Crisis Staff is that no new measures should be adopted when it comes to travelers and tourists from China, and that it is necessary to maintain the existing measures.
