The US envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, said after the meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Aljbin Kurti, that the dinar issue is an urgent, humanitarian issue that must be resolved immediately, and announced the next round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina for Tuesday, March 19.
Escobar emphasized that at the meeting with Kurti, he pointed out that pensioners and students are the most threatened by this decision.
“The prime minister took note of that and promised to take into consideration the proposals I presented today,” Escobar said.
He praised the Government of Kosovo for the decision regarding the Visoki Dečani monastery.
“It was a difficult but correct decision. I commend the commitment of Kurti to implement the rule of law and the decision made by the Constitutional Court,” Escobar said.
He emphasized that “the attitude of the USA towards Kosovo is not one of imbalance”, reports “Kosovo Online”.
“Everything we did in the past year, we did for Kosovo. Immediately after Ohrid, we supported Pristina’s candidacy for the Council of Europe, and the democratic processes, including the elections in the north. We stood by Kosovo after the events in September, and we came to the point that we provided `javelins.’ So explain to us how this is an unbalanced relationship,” Escobar concluded.
