Kovacevic to Croatian FM: “Get away from Bosnia and Herzegovina”

Slaven Kovačević, advisor to BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić, commented on today’s statement by Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, who said that he was promoting the unitary goals of Željko Komšić’s political party.

As Kovačević said, it is obvious that Grlić Radman uses every opportunity, including musical events, to promote retrograde, archaic and outdated ideas, which he wants to use for the sovereign state of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Such ideas were overcome by the victory over fascism after the Second World War, and we will not deal with them in particular after the final judgment of the International Criminal Court for the former Yugoslavia in the case of ‘Prlić and others’, in which the existence of a joint criminal enterprise (UZP) was established, one of whose goals was exactly what Radman Grlić advocates today,” said Kovačević.

The creation of a third ethnically based electoral unit, he believes, is the first step towards the federalization of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which they would impose a confederal form and annexation to neighboring Croatia.

“Nobody here is naive, so such ideas simply will not pass. The fact that Grlić Radman does not know what a unitary system is, as one of the three forms of basic state organization, in addition to federal and confederal, what a unitary system really means and what it is for, is his problem,” he said.
A unitary system, says Kovačević, has no ethnic connotation nor can it be associated with any political party.

“Grlić Radman should know that out of 193 countries, members of the United Nations, only about twenty of them have a federal system, while all the others, 90 percent of them, are unitary states, and even those that have regions or are regionalized, such as, for example, Italy, France or, say, Spain. The federal system in federally regulated countries is an expression of a certain and specific historical context and circumstances, so maybe Grlić Radman wants to tell us that the decided JCE is favorable historical context for the third constituency or the third entity. It will not be possible, Grlić Radman, never,” stated Kovačević.

Grlić told Radman that, instead of meddling again in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it would be useful for him to deal with the issues of investigations conducted by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) in several dozen cases against several dozen persons from the Government of the Republic of Croatia, including his ministry, for the purposeless spending of European funds and resources.

“I urge the Croatian opposition to give this due attention, because all of these cases could result in less European Union funds for the Republic of Croatia, at a time when talks on the new European Union budget are opening. And that is coming very soon. For Gordan Grlić Radman and protagonists like him, I have a very simple message. Get out of Bosnia and Herzegovina!”, he concluded, Klix.ba writes.
