papa_ivanThe monument of Pope John Paul II in honor of his peace mission to B&H will be displayed in a commemoration ceremony on 30 April in front of Sarajevo Cathedral. Vanja Gavran , a member of the Croatian Cultural Society “Napredak” who initiated the construction of this monument confirmed this for Fena.

He announced that on 4 April a donors dinner will be organized to raise funds needed for the completion of the project based on the example of the donors dinner organized recently in Zagreb. 250-300 officials from the various segments of society are expected to come.

The Pope’s monument will be 3 meters high and will be made of a material of silver color, which is quite stable and qualitative. Hrvoje Urumović finished modeling of the monument and its completion at the Arts Academy in Zagreb is ongoing.

The square in front of the Cathedral is chosen for the setting of the monument because from that spot the Pope John Paul II during his visit in Sarajevo in 1997 greeted, blessed and sent peace messages to citizens.
