A high-level visit to Camp Butmir brought together senior military leaders from the European Union and NATO for strategic discussions on the security situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the continued commitment to stability across the country.

The visit included the Chair of the European Union Military Committee, General Seán Clancy, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, and the Operational Commander for the European Union Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lieutenant General Ludovic Pinon de Quincy. They were jointly hosted by the Commander of EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, and the Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew Valas.

Discussions focused on the evolving security environment and the importance of close coordination between EUFOR and NATO Headquarters Sarajevo in support of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The visit underlined the unified and complementary approach of the European Union and NATO in working alongside domestic institutions to ensure continued peace, stability, and security for all citizens.

Major General Fronda emphasised the strength of this partnership, stating: “The close cooperation between EUFOR and NATO is a key element in maintaining stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Together, we remain fully committed to supporting the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and ensuring a safe and secure environment for all citizens.”

The meeting reaffirmed the shared resolve of international partners to remain engaged, coordinated, and ready to respond to any potential security challenges. Through strong cooperation, information sharing, and joint engagement, EUFOR and NATO continue to demonstrate their collective commitment to long-term peace and stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

EUFOR continues to operate under its mandate in support of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, maintaining a credible, visible, and impartial presence while working in close partnership with both national and international partners to ensure a safe and secure environment across the country.
