In the last few years, there has been a real boom in the construction of villas and houses with swimming pools in the wider area of Mostar. Moreover, more and more citizens from other cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), especially Sarajevo, are buying attractive land south of Mostar for the construction of such facilities, from ordinary apartment houses to luxury real estate.
This is confirmed by Ramiz Basic from the Tourist Board of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton (HNC), who assesses that this is a surprisingly positive story for that area of Herzegovina.
“The focus is definitely on Mostar, as well as the suburban settlements of Blagaj, Malo Polje, Kosor, and other places. It is also noticeable that our diaspora is investing more and more in this business, and the offer is quite varied, from renovated stone houses to villas of modern architecture. In economic terms, it is indeed a stable source of income,” Basic emphasized.
Although the prevailing opinion is that the demand for such facilities mainly comes from domestic guests from all over BiH, nevertheless, as Basic points out, this can be attributed to some extent to the period of the pandemic.
“Guests who rest in such facilities come from almost all over the world, from Germans to Arabs. This type of vacation offers them numerous possibilities. First of all, the abundance of natural and other beauties, a variety of tourist facilities – from cycling in nature to kayaking or canoeing, the proximity of the Adriatic Sea, numerous cities that are attractive for exploring,” Basic explains.
Numerous facilities are also offered on sites that promote halal tourism due to privacy, orderliness, cleanliness, the possibility of praying, and the like.
The prices for renting such facilities depend on numerous factors, such as size, level of decoration, and contents, and range from 200 BAM for two people per night to 2.500 BAM, Biznis Info reports.
