What does the EEU Delegation expect from PM Vucic?

Doris PackIn a growing certainty that the referendum on the 9th of January as the Day of the RS will be held in this entity of BiH on the 25th of September, it seems that the panic is prevailing in the international ranks.

The Office of the High Representative (OHR) said that the referendum is against the Dayton Agreement and it will push the RS into isolation. International Supervisor for Brcko District, Bruce Perton, banned holding of the referendum in Brcko District.

Will the Head of EU Delegation in BiH get the green light for the suspension of the referendum in the RS, is yet to be seen. Meanwhile, Cristian Dan Preda, rapporteur of the European Parliament (EP) for BiH, sent an appeal to the Prime Minister of Serbia.

“I urge Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to intervene and convince his friends that this is not a good thing,” he said for the newspaper “Danas”, noting that “Serbia has an important role in the stabilization of BiH,” as reported by Radio Slobodna Europe.

Vucic already said that, in case of the referendum, he will not interfere in the internal affairs of the RS and BiH. Doris Pack, member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany in the European Political Party, believes that Vucic should talk Dodik out of the referendum.

“In my opinion, Vucic needs to do that. He has to point out to Milorad Dodik that the referendum is not in the spirit of the Dayton Agreement, and that it actually undermines the agreement. Secondly, he has to make it clear that holding of such a referendum will undermine good neighborly relations between Serbia and BiH and that it would not be good for the peace in BiH.”

Pack expects from Vucic, “to say to his friend Dodik that he had gone too far”, adding that she does not expect from Vucic to influence on Dodik not to hold a referendum because too many past is contained in this issue.
