The first call for housing assistance under the EU Support to Floods Recovery in BiH Project has officially concluded, with a total of 334 applications received from affected communities.

Applications were submitted from the following local communities:

Jablanica – 116 applications

Kiseljak – 77 applications

Konjic – 58 applications

Fojnica – 54 applications

Kreševo – 14 applications

Drvar – 10 applications

Mostar – 5 applications

This project, which provides €20 million in support for recovery following the devastating floods of October 2024 is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in partnership with local authorities. The project aims to ensure that the recovery process is inclusive and sustainable and has three main priorities – support for housing, community infrastructure and small and medium sized enterprises in affected communities.

The implementing partners in the project are committed to transparency in the implementation of the project. Following the submission deadline, the project team has started with data entry. In the coming days, municipal selection committees will review and verify applications, followed by on-site verification visits to assess the eligibility of all applicants. The priority is to ensure that the assistance reaches those most in need.

Upcoming Support for Agricultural Households

In addition to housing assistance, the EU will launch a new public Call in April 2025 for support to agricultural households affected by the floods. This initiative will provide targeted assistance to farmers who suffered damage to their property, equipment, and livelihoods, helping them rebuild and sustain their businesses. Further details on the eligibility criteria and application process will be announced in the coming weeks.
